Process
Part 1: Defining Geometric TransformationS
Geometric transformation is the movement of a shape to a different position. There are two basic types of transformations - rigid transformation and non-rigid transformations. With rigid transformation the size and shape remains the same as the object is transformed, producing congruent figures. With non-rigid transformation the shape remains the same, but the size changes, producing similar figures.
You will begin by learning about the four types of transformations. Click on the paper icon to download the document to take notes on each types. Use the websites below in your search. Be sure to upload your work to Drive when you are finished. |

Video Presentation
In this project you will take pictures or videos of real life examples of the four geometric transformations that you learned about. Click on the icon for instructions and rubric. A Complex Machine Chose a complex machine and analyze all the geometic transformations that are instrumentation in that machine functioning. Click on the icon for instructions and rubric. Create a Rube Goldberg Machine Rube Goldberg machines are contraptions that uses chain reactions to take a simple task and make it complex. You can create a Rube Goldberg Machine that incorporates all four geometric transformations. Click on the icon for instructions and rubric. Transformations In Art Art work, such as the picture in the Introduction screen of this webquest, are filled with geometric transformations. You can create a unique work of art, or use the Amalgamations from Transformations project, that incorporates all four geometric transformations. Click on the icon for instructions and rubric. |
